Serving Veterans a Slice and a Smile
On April 11th, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Parry's Pizza [[link removed][0]=AZVdIY3-ILL1ziFErkOd-sEEMPZ4YtuQ62GVY8yrEarmiOefYjPKexB_w_zlUbuZo3h_CrGjDgN5q-BpCS_iQmZZtJmEXmuKVH1qRwJORZ07_K9B82kkEaluVPco95RVUqliS0-gn8Vw-CawIJi9gDPKn9Oq-zauZFj9wu0vZFCpm8QVZy3nPJsUiyVZFwDpEnM&__tn__=-]K-R] for a Veteran Luncheon in San Antonio. The turnout was amazing! Veterans showed up ready to eat, win prizes, and enjoy some good company. We even had some very special guests stop by to visit with the attending Veterans— including former NFL players Quincy Carter & Priest Holmes!
Thank you to everyone who attended and made the luncheon a wonderful and memorable event! Many attending Veterans commented that this event was the first time since COVID that they have been out to socialize. We could not be happier that we were able to give them that opportunity to get out and visit!
Thank you to all of the incredible staff at Parry's for their hard work for our Veterans!! Also, a huge shoutout to the San Antonio Fire Department who flew the American flag from a ladder truck outside of the restaurant. A truly wonderful way to welcome all of the attending Veterans!

Keeping Busy with Fidget Blankets
One of the many items that Angels on the Sewing and Crafting Team create to provide to VA facilities across the country is fidget blankets. These unique creations are lap-size and can provide sensory and tactile stimulation for individuals with restless hands. These are a great distraction for those that may have worrisome or self-harming behaviors.
"Orlando was the original VA Hospital that requested Fidget Blankets. They use them for those patients with dementia as well as other Veterans that need them for dexterity. I mentioned it to Tracy [who oversees the Sewing and Crafting Team], who thought it would be something the Angels would enjoy doing. I love the variety of fidget blankets we get. I have been told by several of the VAs that this is a huge benefit for the Veterans," said Vicki Sarracino, Sr. Director of Field Operations.

A Royal Food Distribution
We had some very special guests stop by our Military and Veteran Food Distribution in San Antonio this month— El Rey Feo himself and members of the Fiesta Court! Arriving by motorcade, the King and his court had a great time handing out Fiesta medals, participating in photo ops, and, most importantly, serving attending Service Members and Veterans with groceries! ¡Viva Fiesta!
Coffee for Houston Veterans
Soldiers' Angels volunteers in Houston hosted a coffee station for Veterans outside of the Houston VA. Veterans were able to stop by for a fresh cup of coffee and learn about Soldiers' Angels.
