If we don’t start treating every day like earth day, we’re in trouble.

The costs of inaction on climate change are dire, and we’re already experiencing those effects today through extreme weather events, extreme heat and cold, drought, flooding, food and water scarcity, and more.

Despite the effects we’re experiencing, there is hope for a better future if we take action together. Big polluters must do their part, and so do we.

Last month I sent you a short list of little things anyone can do to reduce their carbon footprint. In honor of Earth Day, here are a few more things anyone can do to pitch in:

SHORTEN YOUR SHOWER
Shortening the length of your showers not only reduces water usage, but also contributes to conserving drinking water and lowering your water bill, making it a simple and effective way to consume water more responsibly.

ADJUST THE THERMOSTAT
Lowering your thermostat in winter and raising it in summer, even by just 1°, reduces carbon emissions, lowers the demand for electricity and saves as much as 5% - 15% a year on heating.

REUSABLE WATER BOTTLES
Opting for a reusable water bottle not only requires less oil to manufacture, but also reduces the amount of plastic waste sent to landfills and helps protect marine life.

MEATLESS MONDAY
Going meatless just one day a week can make a positive impact on your personal health and the health of the planet. It helps decrease your carbon footprint and conserves vital resources such as fossil fuels and water.

COMPOST
Composting offers a number of benefits including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing erosion and runoff, and helping to make gardens more resilient to the effects of climate change.
