John,
Tonight, SCOTUS decided to stay a ruling to restrict mifepristone, leaving access and legal standing UNCHANGED for now. But we know that this will not be the last time the Supreme Court will be given the opportunity to restrict abortion care nationwide.
And although we’re relieved on behalf of the patients and providers in this country, we’re also clear-eyed about the fight that lies ahead.
There are already new lawsuits on track toward the Supreme Court challenging abortion protections, even in states where abortion is currently legal. That's why we're continuing our fight to elect prochoice champions at the state and local level who have vowed never to prosecute patients or providers for seeking or providing abortion care.
Our fight continues and we will not rest until the right to an abortion is guaranteed and accessible to everyone.
Overturning Roe v. Wade was never their endgame. Clearly, anti-choice extremists will not stop until they have secured a national abortion ban, and the threat to abortion, contraception, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare goes far beyond this case alone. We cannot wait until 2024 to take action.
As always, thank you for being with us in the fight for access to the reproductive care we need and deserve, we cannot do this without you.
