John — the pro-choice majority won tonight.
While the far-right challenge to the abortion pill mifepristone works through appeals courts, the Supreme Court has stayed an order that would make the most common form of abortion care inaccessible.
For now, anti-abortion extremists have failed to abuse the judicial system to effect a nationwide abortion ban.
I’m relieved that the medication mifepristone will remain available while appeals are heard, but John, it’s outrageous that the case got this far to begin with. This case is a legal charade that has created chaos and confusion while threatening the health of women.
If federal judges are able to overturn Food & Drug Administration approval of safe and effective medications, our system of drug approval could be thrown into upheaval. Extremist activists should not be able to abuse the justice system to enact their radical agenda. The consequences are too dangerous to ignore.
We must not be complacent as we continue to fight the legal and political attacks on women's health and freedom. Meanwhile, far-right politicians here in North Carolina are still working to end access to reproductive health care — and they have a shot. John, we have to be ready to fight back.
I’m asking my supporters to donate immediately to power my efforts to elect Democratic candidates across NC who we can count on to defend our fundamental rights.
