100 Days of Success

On Monday, I celebrated the significant achievements my fellow House Republicans and I have delivered during our first 100 days in the House Majority. Tangible progress continues to be made each week as we work diligently to roll back significant federal overreach by the Biden Administration and lower the burden of high costs for every American.

Our focus remains on supporting a robust economy, securing our nation, maintaining our freedoms, and ensuring the government is accountable.

In these initial 100 days, the House Republican majority has passed 59 bills, such as the Parents Bill of Rights Act, the Lower Energy Costs Act, the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act, and the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, among others. We are holding the Biden administration accountable by mandating that administration officials testify before Congress over 235 times on various issues. To date, 500 oversight letters have been sent and 34 subpoenas have been issued. Furthermore, we have set a modern-day record of 42 committee hearings held in a single day – all with the goal of ensuring the federal government is delivering for the taxpayer.

But that's not all. House Republicans have also passed:

  • Abolishing the Military Vaccine Mandate.
  • Terminating the COVID-19 national emergency.
  • Ending proxy voting.
  • Reopening the People's House.
  • Forming the bipartisan Select Committee on China.
  • Forming the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government

There is still work to be done – including the restoration of fiscal responsibility in Washington and mandating federal employees to show up to their offices on behalf of the American people, House Republicans are not taking it easy or patting ourselves on the back. The American people expect action. My fellow Republicans and I will continue to strive for a better trajectory for our nation, the Lone Star State, and our 17th Congressional District of Texas.

Ensuring Prosperous U.S. Markets

On Tuesday, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Gary Gensler, testified before the House Financial Services Committee. During his tenure, Chair Gensler has deflected responsibility for the SEC’s failure to meet their Congressional mandate of facilitating capital formation and fairly adjudicating the law – having the effect of inhibiting emerging companies’ ability to succeed.

ImageHis disastrous agenda is threatening our nation’s dominance and competitiveness globally.
While at the hearing, I called out the Chairman on his unwillingness to engage with me and my peers. After he made further attempts to avoid answering, I let him know his performance on behalf of the American public has been poor. You can see my full comments here.

Protecting Women's Sports

On April 6th, the Biden Administration’s Department of Education proposed a rule that would limit athletic opportunities for women and girls by allowing males “identifying” as women to compete in school sports — destroying the level playing field in women’s athletic programs and harming the female athletes that Title IX was meant to support.

This week, I voted with House Republicans to pass H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which would protect female athletes by clarifying that under Title IX, sex shall be assigned solely on a person’s gender recognized at birth and prohibit biological males from competing in publicly funded school athletic programs intended for women or girls.

Every single House Democrat voted against the bill. My Republican colleagues and I will stand firm to protect women.

Sincerely,
