Our youth are being stripped of their freedom to live without fear.

This week, 16-year-old Ralph Yarl was shot after ringing the wrong doorbell on his way to pick up his younger siblings.

Just days later, 20-year-old Karen Gills was shot and killed for pulling into the wrong driveway.

The string of shootings in the last week highlights two gut-wrenching realities in our country: the persistent racial biases against Black youth and our nation's obsession with guns.

And it's all being led by Republican fear-mongering and extremist pro-gun agenda.

It's time for us to stop putting guns before the well-being of our youth. The time for common sense gun control is now.
