John,
Nearly 7 million people in the United States rely on insulin to stay alive. The inventors of the drug believed it to be a common good, and sold the patent to a university for $1 because they wanted everyone to be able to afford it and have access to it.
Thanks to corporate greed, the price of insulin has skyrocketed over 1,000% since 1996 and at least 1.3 million Americans report having to ration their supply -- putting their lives in serious danger. All the while, the three major insulin manufacturers raked in profits of $21 billion.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Cori Bush (D-MO) have introduced legislation that would prohibit manufacturers from charging more than $20 for a vial of insulin, the Insulin for All Act.

The most common types of insulin cost 10x more in the United States than any other developed country -- including our neighbors to the north in Canada.1
And while intense public pressure made Eli Lilly and other drug manufacturers reduce the price of several insulin products by 70%, most of those price reductions don’t kick in until next year. And, even then, Big Pharma could choose to raise their rates again at any time.2
That’s why we need laws to protect people from Big Pharma greed and price gouging.
Become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Insulin for All Act to stop deadly corporate price gouging and make sure everyone has access to this life-saving medicine.
Thank you for all you do to advocate for working people, the aging, and vulnerable communities,
