Help us fight food waste!

Divert your food scraps and leftovers from the landfill!

In 2019, the City of Fort Worth launched the Residential Food Waste Composting Program [ [link removed] ] in response to the fact that 28.5 percent of the material going into the Fort Worth Southeast landfill was food waste.

The first of its kind in North Texas, this program has served as an example to cities around the region, some of which have started programs of their own. To date, the composting program has *diverted over 458,000 pounds of food waste away from the landfill* and has a record *contamination rate of under one percent*.

May 29?is National Compost Day, and what better way to celebrate it than by joining our program? Why wait??Sign up today! [ [link removed] ]

We are also looking to highlight our wonderful composting program subscribers on social media this month. Send us any pictures or short videos that show how you fight food waste at home!

Keep an eye out for the KFWB social media posts on?Facebook (@KeepFortWorthBeautiful) [ [link removed] ] or Twitter (@KFWB_TX) [ [link removed] ] to stay up to date with the program and see your photo.

Thank you to all our?Cowtown?Cleanup volunteers!

Thank you to everyone who helped us remove litter in Fort Worth during the Cowtown Cleanup!

One of the City's unified goals for 2023 is to provide residents with a clean, safe city. On Saturday, March 25, the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful team hosted the citywide Cowtown Great American Cleanup, our largest annual litter cleanup event!?

A total of *5,334 volunteers registered *to spend the morning cleaning up?*170* sites throughout the city, from parks to neighborhood streets. We are excited to report that over?*174,000 pounds of litter* were removed just on that day. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers for their hard work and engagement!

Judges were impressed with all the Trashion Fashion contest designs!

We hope you also enjoyed Earth Party at Trinity Park! It was great to see families, friends, groups, and individuals enjoying the food, the music, the entertainment, and our partner booths. Congratulations to our Trashion Fashion design contest winners:

"*1st place and Fan Favorite Award*": Trichelle Ross. Her ballgown, "Walmart Run", was made with Walmart bags, snack bags, and boxes.

"*2nd place*": Tatum Barbee. The asymmetrical top of Tatum's "Energy Saver" outfit was built out of Monster energy drink cans, and the bottom was made with trash bags.

"*3rd place*": Briseyda Pineda.?Her "Fast Fashion" outfit was constructed with SHEIN bags, soda tabs, and a trash bag.

Thank you to our other fashionable entries from Collins and Bayli Brice, Natalie Jaecks, and Delilah Pozos! These looks made trash classy, and staff cannot wait to see next year?s competition!

Help empty fishing line receptacles and keep wildlife safe!

Fishing line receptacles help save wildlife

A crew of City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department workers have crafted a convenient way for visitors to *safely dispose of used monofilament fishing lines* at Fort Worth parks. The L-shaped device is made from PVC pipe and is attached to existing sign poles near lakes and rivers. Anglers simply discard the fishing line into the receptacle.

If you and your group would like to *assist in keeping wildlife safe* by regularly emptying one of these devices, contact [email protected] <[email protected]>.

Help us divert waste from the landfill. Check out our Residential Food Waste Composting Program!
