National Kindergarten Day: April 21

The 2021 Current Population Survey (CPS) found 4.1 million children in kindergarten, an increase of 370,000 in one year.

National Volunteer Week: April 16-22

The 2021 Volunteering in America Report found 60.7 million adults (23.2 percent) volunteered 4.1 billion hours. Economic value was estimated at $122.9 billion.

Earth Day: April 22

The 2020 County Business Patterns found 1,673 establishments in hydro-solar-wind-geothermal-biomass-other electric power generation with 18,777 paid employees.

Prescription Drug Take Back Day: April 22

The U.S. seasonally adjusted total value of shipments of pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing grew from $67 billion in 1992 to $255 billion in 2021.

World Book and Copyright Day: April 23

The 2020 County Business Patterns counted 6,570 establishments as book stores and news dealers, down from 7,996 in 2014, a period of six years.

Administrative Professionals Week and Day: April 23-29 and 26

The 2021 American Community Survey estimated 1,889,381 secretaries and administrative assistants including 233,339 executive, 46,669 legal, and 67,982 medical.

National Library Week: April 23-29

The 2021 American Community Survey estimated 141,808 full-time librarians and media collections specialists. There are a total of 123,627 libraries in the U.S.
