John,
Last weekend, the NRA held their annual meeting and, for the second year in a row, a “freedom filled weekend for the entire family” was held after multiple mass shootings.
The same weekend , two gunmen killed four people and injured 32 others in Dadeville, AL.
The same week , a gunman with an AR-15-style rifle killed five people in Louisville, KY.
Last month , a gunman with an assault rifle killed three children and three adults in Nashville, TN.
Last year, the NRA held their meeting in Texas only three days after 19 children and two adults were killed by a gunman with an AR-15.
The NRA is ignoring these tragedies and all those that have happened before while touting lighthearted activities like a “Wall of Guns” and NRA youth day at their event when Americans are dying from gun violence every day. Gun violence is the number one killer of kids in the United States, but the NRA is pushing their ‘guns everywhere’ agenda onto the very same kids who are at risk.
While the NRA ignores these tragedies and rallies their base and pocket-politicians, we’re calling on 5,000 grassroots activists to speak out louder than their deadly rhetoric and call for lifesaving action. ADD YOUR NAME to our urgent petition and demand that Congress pass common sense gun violence prevention legislation and save lives. >> [[link removed]]

This year, the NRA meeting was held in Indianapolis, IN, a permitless carry state without universal background checks, an assault weapons ban. It was in this same city, two years ago, that a gunman killed eight people at a FedEx facility. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and Senator Mike Braun spoke at the convention after taking no action in response to this shooting.
The outrageousness of the NRA knows no bounds, packing their propaganda weekend with even more Second Amendment extremist politicians spewing their usual lies, smiling in the face of tragedy:
Former President Donald Trump said in his address, “This is not a gun problem,”
Former Vice President Mike Pence had the audacity to say, “Stop trampling on the God-given rights of the American people every time tragedy happens."
These are blatant and dangerous lies, John. We cannot let this vitriol to stop us from protecting our children and changing this country. We know that the majority of Americans want our lawmakers to take action to address our gun violence epidemic – that's why we're asking you to speak out today: Will you add your name to our urgent petition and tell Congress that we need common sense gun violence prevention legislation NOW? >> [[link removed]]
