Dear John,

I wanted to start my update this week by touching on a particularly concerning development we are seeing across the country. You may have heard that about two weeks ago, a federal district judge in Texas issued a ruling that seeks to undo the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone nationwide. I want to take a moment to explain what that means for you here in Minnesota.

Mifepristone is an abortion medication that has been used by thousands of women since its FDA approval 23 years ago. If this judge’s ruling goes into effect, it will supersede state law and mifepristone will become unavailable in every state in this nation – including here in Minnesota.

There is a lot of confusion surrounding this decision – and the Supreme Court has until 11:59pm ET tonight to decide whether the Texas judge’s ruling will stand. But please know that I will do everything in my power to fight this decision. In fact, I have already filed an amicus brief alongside more than 100 of my colleagues in the House and Senate to protect the rights of women in Minnesota and across the country.

This would be a radical and unprecedented decision if allowed to stand. But make no mistake: this is a symptom of the larger effort by ideological extremists to ban abortion nationwide. The fight does not stop with mifepristone.

If you or a loved one needs abortion care, please consult with your health care providers to learn about your options.

Here's what else I was up to this week:

Meeting with Minnesota Rural Electric Association
Minnesota’s electric cooperatives serve 1.7 million Minnesotans and provide almost 23% of our state’s electricity. This week, I had a great conversation with the Minnesota Rural Electric Association about how we can work together to ensure all Minnesotans have affordable and reliable access to their electricity.

Kicking off the Bipartisan Supply Chain Caucus for the 118th Congress
By strengthening and stabilizing US supply chains, we can lower costs, get products to shelves faster and prevent delays. We had the first meeting of the bipartisan Supply Chain Caucus for the 118th Congress on Wednesday – looking forward to working across the aisle to find solutions!

Advocating for Minnesota Farmers
The EPA’s new fuel emission guidelines overlook the critical role that biofuels play in lowering gas prices and increasing our energy independence and hurts the livelihoods of our corn and soybean producers here in MN-02. I shared my concerns with EPA Administrator Michael Regan this week during an Ag Committee hearing.

Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:

With this week being super busy back in DC, I thought it’d be the right time to introduce you to another member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. This is Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester – one of my fantastic colleagues from Delaware!
