By leaving these AUMFs on the book, we say Congress will not discuss war, we’ve given war powers to the president, and we’re done with it. We wash our hands of it and the president can do whatever he wants.
I’m strongly against this approach, friend. It leads to NO limits, geographic war.
If the president feels strongly enough about sending tens of thousands of our sons and daughters to war, he needs to formally ask Congress.
I feel strongly about the prospect of going to war and sending our children into harm’s way, but I want your thoughts.
