We have some good news on climate change. Thanks to President Biden’s aggressive climate initiatives and SEEC Members passing the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), we can actually reach our Paris Climate Agreement goals!
But here’s the catch, John: we still need to keep pushing for further action if we’re going to reduce carbon emissions to avoid catastrophic climate effects. In fact, according to a new analysis released by the Rhodium Group, while we’ve greatly picked up the pace because of the IRA, we still need to cut emissions 40% faster than the current estimates project.
It’s easy to become discouraged by the state of our climate, but this latest report shows that the work our SEEC Members are doing can and will mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. We just cannot rest on our laurels, John. We have to keep pressing forward if we’re going to save the planet.
SEEC PAC members have always known that if we make good on our promises and hold ourselves accountable to our international climate commitments, we have a chance to reverse this climate crisis. That’s why they’re fighting day in and day out to lower emissions, reduce the impact of extreme weather and eliminate pollution through environmentally sustainable policy.
