A Lot of (Good) Economic News |
Last week, a report once again gave Indiana high marks on our economic conditions and outlook, ranking us seventh in the nation. But with today's media being ever so selective in what it chooses to cover (for some odd reason), you may have missed it.
This is the 10th consecutive year that this report has placed Indiana in the top 10, a testament to the economic environment Republicans have been working to cultivate to ensure entrepreneurs and businesses both small and large can thrive. The reports notes as much stating "states with low taxes attract more business investment and more workers. People move to where they have economic opportunities." No wonder our neighbor to the west ranks 46th! But that's not the only good economic news coming out of Indiana lately.
This week, Eli Lilly announced a historic investment in Boone County that will now total $3.7 billion and create 700 new jobs, the latest state revenue forecast revealed that Indiana's economy is performing even better than expected, and just this morning, unemployment numbers revealed that Indiana's unemployment rate has now been below the national average for 33 months with a new private employment peak.
That's a lot of good news. And every day, Republicans are working hard to deliver more.
Enjoy this week's newsletter. Sincerely, |

Governor Eric Holcomb welcomes the crowd to the NRA-ILA annual meeting in downtown Indianapolis. |
Last Friday, Governor Eric Holcomb welcomed thousands of guests to the NRA-ILA's annual meeting held in downtown Indianapolis, speaking on our state's successes and thanking our uniformed heroes. Excerpt:
"You are in a state that could not be, as my two predecessors at this podium just articulated, a state that could not be more grateful for our uniformed heroes. Who keep our nations flag and all it represents flying high over this land of the free. Because of their bravery, you are surrounded by patriots not just in this hall, but border to border in the state of Indiana. "Yes, we fully exercise our constitutional rights, we put our money where our mouth is, and we invest in those that protect them and our laws, and our safety. Ladies and gentlemen, you will not find a place in America more supportive of your — our Second Amendment — than here in Indiana."

Congressman Yakym, Congresswoman Houchin Introduce First Bills |
This week, Congressmen Rudy Yakym and Congresswoman Erin Houchin introduced their first (ever) bills of the 118th Congress, a bill to add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the Regulation A+ Improvement Act, respectively. Yakym's bill includes eight provisions, among them that "total outlays for any fiscal year shall not exceed total receipts, unless three-fifths of Congress approves in a roll call vote."
"In Indiana, we make responsible spending choices and exercise fiscal discipline every single day. It’s high time we brought that same Hoosier commonsense to Washington. And a Balanced Budget Amendment is the way to do it." — Congressman Rudy Yakym Houchin's Regulation A+ Improvement Act would expand investment options for Americans across the country and support the growth of small to mid-size businesses.
“It’s important we cut red tape to make it easier for our local businesses to grow." — Congresswoman Erin Houchin
