Greetings, The Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Division of Health Care Finance, (KDHE-DHCF) will offer eleven Medicaid training courses beginning May 1, 2023. These are instructor-led, interactive courses available to the public, state agencies, and any stakeholder interested in Kansas Medicaid and KanCare. The schedule and the course objectives can be found in the PDF document attached below. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and instructions can be found below. Registration will close four days prior to the start date of each course. All courses are virtual via Zoom. The May 2023 course offerings include: • Kan Be Healthy: Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) Course Enrollment Instructions in KanLearn Existing KanLearn Users: If you already have a KanLearn account and have forgotten your password, please use the “forgot password” link on the main log-in page. You will receive an e-mail to change your password. Be certain to check your junk mail folder after using the “forgot password” link for an e-mail from [email protected]. New KanLearn Users: If you do not have a KanLearn account, create one by following this link: https://lsglm700.learnsoft.com/LSGLM/Login/kdhelogin.aspx. • Under the login button, choose “click here” next to “new user.” • Wait for an e-mail from [email protected] confirming that the account has been made and is pending approval. Be certain to check your junk mail folder. • Individuals will then receive an “account approved” e-mail. This process can take up to 24 hours. Please do not attempt to make more than one account as this will delay the approval and registration process. • After receiving the “account approved” e-mail, you can log-in to your account and enroll in courses. • Click the “search” button and a course list will be displayed. Look for the “enroll” button on each course of interest. • Individuals may also search for courses by name or click the “calendar view” button, and then choose the applicable month and year. • Choose the desired course or courses. Click the “enroll” button to enroll in the course or courses. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail from [email protected]. If this e-mail has not been received, please check your junk mail folder. On the day of training: • Log into KanLearn and click the “conference” or “webinar” button next to the appropriate course. • Participants should join each virtual classroom at least 10 minutes prior to the start time of the course, so any technical issues you may encounter can be promptly resolved. • A Meeting ID and Password will be sent to you prior to the meeting start time. • Participants more than five minutes late to any course may not be admitted to the virtual classroom. A Brighter Future: Navigating the World of Disability and Employment Training The Colorado Office of Employment First celebrates the collaborative effort and success of "A Brighter Future: Navigating the World of Disability and Employment." This curriculum and training for youth and families is generously funded by the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council. Partnership with CDDC to develop this training is a prime example of how agencies can unite innovative ideas with expertise to directly empower youth with disabilities and their families to pursue competitive integrated employment. This collaboration has been integral to amplifying our shared vision. The result is a curriculum designed to educate and empower youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their parents and/or guardians about creating high expectations of employment. About the Training: Training participants will engage in an interactive learning experience that includes six one-hour virtual training sessions with additional one-on-one mentoring opportunities. Participants will complete a pre and post-course survey to assess knowledge gained from this training opportunity. Our experienced and engaging instructors will be available throughout the course to support participants in navigating the training and achieving course objectives. Training Purpose: To deliver a statewide training curriculum that educates youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families/care providers about Employment First, which includes the possibilities, processes, potential services, systems navigation, and strategies for securing work. Training Topics: There are separate tracks for youth and families that cover all six modules. Our Target Audience: Youth with I/DD between the ages of 14 and 21 and their family members inclusive of both urban and rural areas. CDDC prioritizes membership of people with disabilities, people of diverse races and ethnicities, and people from geographically diverse areas across the state. By integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion into our onboarding processes, we benefit from the many skills and perspectives people bring to the council. Council members are people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities, and representatives of state agencies, non governmental agencies and private nonprofit groups for people with disabilities. CDDC meets monthly. Members are required to participate in a committee to further initiatives and support for and with people with developmental disabilities in Colorado. Committee meetings meet one to two times per month outside of the main council meeting. Special sessions may be added to vote or further the work as needed. Interested in applying for membership? Many fine motor limitations can stem from an acute injury or medical condition or result from a lifelong impairment. Accommodation solutions, including assistive technologies, will be explored to address fine motor limitations relevant to working in various industries. The webcast takes place Thursday, May 11 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET.
