Dear John,
You probably get a lot of email —organizations, causes and candidates pump out a ton of promotional materials and action alerts. And honestly, a lot of these groups send out a lot of messages that sound pretty similar, and more than a little bit boring.
Including this one.
But there’s no reason emails about economics and politics have to be so bland .
The economy certainly isn’t boring these days! The Fight for $15 continues its march across the country, with Florida and Nebraska the latest states to raise the wage. The job market is extraordinarily strong, and for the first time in decades, wages are growing fastest for the workers who are paid the least. And President Biden has secured trillions of dollars of new investments in infrastructure, clean energy, and domestic manufacturing.
If we change the way we talk about the economy, we can change the economy so it works for all of us. Can you take a few minutes to complete our 12-question survey on how we can do better at making that change happen? [[link removed]]
After decades when both political parties had absorbed the trickle-down logic of wage suppression, deregulation, and tax cuts, a new logic is taking hold about how the economy actually grows: from the bottom up and the middle out.
This is our moment. Civic Action was founded as a grassroots force to fight for an economy that works for everyone, not just the rich . We’ve been arguing for years that higher wages means more customers for more businesses, and that building a strong middle class is the only way to build lasting prosperity.
Now the stars are aligned to take our work to the next level — with your help.
Can you take a few minutes to complete our quick 12-question survey and let us know what you think, and what you want to see from us? It’s really a big help. [[link removed]]
Look: email messages, surveys, and online actions aren’t going to change the economy on their own. But they can be important tools to share information, exert power, and change the conversation about economic cause and effect.
Thanks, The team at Civic Action
