Breaking news: The Minnesota Senate passed the Elections Omnibus bill with Ranked Choice Voting measure early this morning
While the RCV measure has gone through some changes and may require further amendments, passage of the Omnibus bill ensures that RCV will continue to advance in the legislative process. The bill provides for a task force to study and plan for adoption and implementation of RCV at the state and local level.
Next up: The Senate and House will work to resolve the Omnibus bills in conference committee, and we’ll have to keep up the pressure to move RCV forward. Stay tuned for next steps!
Thank you! Thank you!
We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up at the Capitol today to show support for RCV; your presence made a difference! And thanks to all of you who contacted your senator and encouraged them to vote yes on the Omnibus bill and continue to advance RCV legislation. Please take a moment now to thank the members of the Senate elections committee and chief author Kelly Morrison for their hard work advancing this legislation!
FairVote Minnesota has the BEST supporters! We simply could not do this work without you.
The final weeks of the legislative session will be critical, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the status of RCV legislation and how you can be helpful.
Thank you again for your support in helping us to advance RCV and a more inclusive, representative and responsive democracy!
