--------FORWARDED MESSAGE-------- Sender: Laurence Benenson Subject Line: Join us: The first 100 days of the 118th Congress and what it means for immigration reform Date: Tuesday, April 18, 2023
John,
As we approach the 118th Congress’s first 100 days in office, we’re taking time to reflect on congressional action (and inaction) around key immigration issues like providing a permanent solution for Dreamers, securing pathways to legal immigration, ensuring meaningful border solutions and passing the Afghan Adjustment Act.
Join us this Friday at 1p.m. EST on Facebook Live to learn more about what comes next.
This week, the House Republican majority is planning to roll-out an expansive border and enforcement bill that does little to address legal pathways and is
unlikely to garner support from the Democratic Senate. In the previous Congress, the Democratic majority tried and failed to enact important priorities like permanent solutions for Dreamers and the agricultural workforce. While it is clear Congress needs to tackle immigration, the question remains whether the 118th Congress can overcome partisan gridlock and pass meaningful immigration reforms this session.
Join the conversation this Friday at 1 p.m. EST.
On Friday, April 21, we’ll be joined by experts from the George W. Bush Institute, the Niskanen Center
and the National Immigration Forum to discuss the progress we hope to see from Congress on immigration reform during the remainder of the session up through the 2024 election.
With the passage of the 100th day of the 118th Congress, the House and Senate will need to take the initiative in crafting bipartisan immigration legislation that overcomes partisan gridlock to provide the solutions we need.
Make sure to join us this Friday for an insightful conversation.
This is your opportunity to make sure your voice is a part of the conversation. Together we can continue to
urge Congress to pass immigration reforms that work for all of us.
Thanks,
Laurence Benenson Vice President of Policy & Advocacy National Immigration Forum
