John, As bees dance from flower to flower this spring, they have a lot more on their minds than just acquiring pollen. New research suggests that bees have complex emotions, including optimism, frustration, playfulness and fear.1 The more we learn about bees, the more we see just how incredible these tiny pollinators are. But widely used bee-killing pesticides are decimating bee populations and threatening the survival of these complex creatures. That's why, from now until midnight on Earth Day, generous donors have stepped up to match donations up to $50,000 nationwide. Will you donate to help save the bees? Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar. Bees are facing devastating threats. Neonicotinoid pesticides fatally damage bees, paralyzing and killing them.2 Though there are plenty of reasons to feel fearful for the bees, at Environment Colorado we're feeling hopeful that we can turn things around for our pollinators. Bees are struggling to avoid deadly pesticides applied to our food crops, parks and more, but together we can stop the worst uses of neonicotinoids. Already, seven states have restricted neonics, thanks to our national network of environmental groups. We're working to ban the worst uses of neonics in Colorado next. We're also calling on the Biden administration to ban the use of neonics in wildlife refuges, and urging companies including Amazon to stop selling the pesticides. Our critical work to save the bees relies on support from everyday citizens like you, John. And if you give right now, your donation will be MATCHED, doubling your impact. Please make an Earth Day donation to have twice the impact. Thank you, Ellen Montgomery Your donation will be used to support all of our campaigns to protect the environment, from saving the bees and protecting public lands, to standing up for clean water and fighting climate change. None of our work would be possible without supporters like you. Environment Colorado may transfer up to $50 per dues-paying member per year into the Environment Colorado Small Donor Committee. |
