Republican legislators are becoming more and more emboldened across the country, running and WINNING in typically blue districts thanks to a mixture of voter suppression, redistricting, and turning out an extreme and motivated base.
I want one thing to be clear – our district here in Brooklyn is not immune to Republican interference, and after 2016, I’ve learned to not take anything for granted.
Our district was redrawn last year, as was every district in New York, and with new and more conservative folks in the district, we need to be prepared for whatever the GOP throws at us in 2024.
I’m the ONLY Black woman representing New York in Congress.
I’m the First Vice Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.
I’m on the frontlines for fighting for our digital civil liberties and equity in spaces from entertainment to employment and everything in between.
So we cannot afford to lose my voice, OUR voice, in Congress.
