As we celebrate 4/20, the unofficial holiday for marijuana enthusiasts, we’d like to take a moment to recognize all the hard work Democrats have done to decriminalize and then legalize recreational marijuana use in New Mexico. Not only that, Democrats were able to tap into a whole new revenue stream through marijuana legalization, bringing in over $300 million for the state’s economy since legalization in April 2022. It is thanks to the support from folks like you supporting NM Dems that we were able to pass this landmark legislation, and it is up to folks like you to continue making sure that we continue passing more common-sense legislation that New Mexico a more just and prosperous place.

So many people have had their lives turned upside-down as a result of simple marijuana charges, which had obvious socioeconomic and racial prejudices. We are thrilled that in New Mexico no one else will have to needlessly suffer because of discriminatory mass incarceration practices that have disproportionately targeted communities of color and perpetuated the injustices of the failed “war on drugs." Make a donation today to make sure we continue supporting trailblazing candidates who will continue moving New Mexico forward.
