John, this is a pivotal year for the Equal Rights Amendment.
At last, identical resolutions have been introduced in the U.S. House ( H.J.Res.25 [[link removed]] ) and the Senate ( S.J.Res.4 [[link removed]] ), removing the time limit for state ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and declaring that “the ratification is valid to all intents and purposes as part of the United States Constitution having been ratified by the legislatures of 3/4th of the required states.“
This is why I am inviting you to renew your Feminist Majority membership and help our campaign enshrine the ERA into the United States Constitution at this historic time. Rush your gift to help us continue this fight! [[link removed]]

Congressional ERA Resolutions have been introduced before, but this time feels very different ; the votes to pass the resolutions are very close in both the Senate and the House. With the Supreme Court reversing Roe and declaring the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection and Liberty clauses do not ban sex discrimination, the need for the ERA is now greater than ever [[link removed]] .
This is the first time in 50 years that Congressional joint resolutions acknowledged the ERA has been ratified. Hundreds of constitutional lawyers have declared this to be true since Virginia became the 38th state to ratify the ERA in January 2020 and the two-year waiting period for the ERA to take effect was reached in 2022.
The ERA’s popularity is at an all-time high. Over 75% of likely voters support the ERA, but in some polls, the numbers are even higher. Young people, especially young women, overwhelmingly support the ERA; they don’t want to be the first generation with fewer rights than their mothers [[link removed]] .
We are working on a massive ERA petition campaign to prove what the public opinion surveys are showing. Which is that over 75% of Americans support the ERA.
We are writing to ask you to renew your membership so that we can be strong during this critical time in ERA history and continue the fight for equality.
For equality,
Eleanor Smeal, Feminist Majority President
