Friend, it’s been a few weeks since I last gave you an update on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, on which I serve as the ranking member.
Since we last spoke, our subcommittee has met again and the extreme rhetoric, attacks, and misinformation from Congressional Republicans has only amplified.
Can you help my team fight back against these far-right attacks with a donation of $5 today? »
I’ll be honest, friend, I’m getting pretty sick and tired of hearing the same tired lies, and conspiracy theories lobbed at the CDC, Dr. Fauci, teachers unions, and Democratic leaders. Instead of drawing insightful or productive conclusions about the COVID-19 response, Republicans on the committee have chosen to politicize this tragedy.
That’s not my focus. I’m focused on making our communities, our schools, and our health care system more resilient for the future pandemics, god forbid we face one again.
I’m focused on addressing the underlying inequities that disproportionately harmed underserved communities and school districts, specifically majority Latino, African American, or Native American ones.
I’m focusing on continuing to provide increased funding and resources to these communities and school districts so we can better address and prevent future pandemics.
I’m eager, however, for committee members on both sides of the aisle to set aside partisan rhetoric, and get to work on real bipartisan work among my colleagues for the good of the public.
Thank you for taking a moment to read this email. I'll be in touch again soon.
— Dr. Raul Ruiz
A quick note from Rep. Ruiz's campaign team:
Hi team, we're incredibly proud of the work that Dr. Ruiz is doing on this new Select Committee. He values your support more than we could ever express.
Will you consider pitching in $5 (or anything you can afford) to Dr. Ruiz's Democratic campaign? »
