Building Capacity for Environmental Justice
Our EPA Region 2 Technical Assistance Center Makes Headlines

Last week we told you about the grant we received from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Now you can watch a video replay of the press conference held at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in West Harlem.

CBS News was there to cover the announcement, running this story. But arguably the best, most in-depth article was published by Inside Climate News, which you can read here. It provides a good overview of our EPA Region 2 Technical Assistance Center and how it will help advance environmental justice in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

To recap the announcement, the EPA launched its Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center program, with WE ACT - one of the 17 Technical Assistance Centers nationwide - receiving at least $10 million over five years to help environmental justice communities across the region build capacity for navigating federal grant application systems to secure funding for environmental justice initiatives. Our partners for the center include Clean Energy Group, Columbia University Climate School, Environmental Protection Network, Inter American University, New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance, New York University School of Law Institute for Policy Integrity, and South Ward Environmental Alliance.
