My grandmother immigrated here from Mexico when she was 7 years old after losing both of her parents. She was an orphan when she came to this country. She took care of her younger sister by working as a maid and a housekeeper and never made it past the 4th grade.

My mom was a single mother. She raised my brother Joaquin and me on the West Side of San Antonio. It’s not the safest neighborhood, but to this day, I’m proud to call it home. I know it was a struggle every single month for her to find the money to pay the rent. But she taught me that even though we weren’t born into privilege, we could be whatever we wanted to be.

When I took the stage at the Democratic debates this week, my message resonated with voters because I know your struggle.

I didn’t come from privilege…

I’m from one of those neighborhoods people avoid...

I was raised by a single mother...

I’m from an immigrant family...

I’m so humbled that supporters across this country have rushed in money to keep my campaign going after my message resonated with them. I’m not taking a cent of corporate PAC money, so your support is fully fueling our campaign.

You probably know that we need a huge amount of individual donors to qualify for the next debate -- and I haven’t hit the threshold yet.

If I made you proud in the debates -- and if you want my campaign in it for the long run -- please rush in $15. Help get me to the next debate stage and keep me in this race:

No one like Julián Castro has ever been in the Oval Office. His grandmother immigrated here from Mexico when she was just 7 years old. She never got past the 4th grade, but she provided for her family by working as a maid and a housekeeper.

Now, her grandson is running for President of the United States. Against all odds, grassroots Democrats like YOU helped him qualify for the first debates and send him to the front of the pack of Democratic candidates.

We know we send you a lot of emails, but that’s because we’re relying on grassroots supporters to overcome our next big challenge:

Julián must reach 130,000 donors this summer to secure his spot on the Democratic debate stage.

Julián hasn’t qualified yet, and he’s not taking a cent of corporate PAC money. Will you help him get there?
