This workshop will focus on both individual and organizational level strategies to address elder abuse using a public health approach. By implementing universal prevention strategies and partnering with community based anti-violence organizations, practitioners can create more holistic and trauma-informed approaches to promoting elder safety. This session also includes guidance on creating partnerships with local anti-violence agencies, in order to respond effectively and compassionately should violence be disclosed.
Sample MOUs, bi-directional referral forms, and other concrete tools will be shared. Participants will engage in small group work including asset mapping and a SWOT analysis to identify their organization’s readiness to engage in new (and strengthen existing) partnerships, with feedback and troubleshooting with other participants.
