We've been fighting for this bill for more than 20 years. We've heard much tough talk over those years, but little substance. The new House leadership is different. They promised strong action to curtail illegal immigration and to re-establish the rule of law, and they've begun to deliver.

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee "marked up" the Border Security and Enforcement Act. This is a huge first step: most bills "die in committee" without ever being marked up.

Since Speaker Kevin McCarthy has promised his strong support, the bill seems certain to receive a vote on the House floor. Our major anxiety has been whether the bill will be as strong as hoped for. Yes, it is!

We are prepared to push for this bill with everything we've got. We're announcing a $400,000 campaign to ensure we have the necessary resources.

This is only the first step in a long battle. The Republicans hold a slim majority in the House, and sadly, there are still Republicans out there who are still beholden to businessmen who rely on cheap, illegal labor. Even if this bill makes it through the House, we're going to need to find some Democrats in the Senate to support the bill. Then, Pres. Biden will have to accept the bill or face the consequences next Fall.

This is going to be a long, expensive fight... and we're out-funded 100 to 1. That's OK... we're used to it by now.

Here's what the bill would do:

►Once and for all mandate the use of E-Verify, ensuring that shady businesses can't get a competitive advantage by breaking immigration law. (THIS IS OUR TOP LEGISLATIVE PRIORITY to control illegal immigration since many illegal aliens will be forced to return home!)

►Fix our asylum system so only true asylees, not economic migrants, can be admitted. ... end catch-and-release, deterring future waves of illegal aliens.

►Strengthen efforts to deter visa overstays

►Rein in the lawless misuse of parole by which Pres. Biden has created his own immigration system, beyond the authority of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

These actions could not only end the illegal alien crisis and re-establish the rule of law, but even undo years of misdeeds by several administrations.
