					At least three people who carried flaming tiki torches at the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., in 2017 have been indicted on state charges that they intimidated others during the explosive demonstration that shocked the nation. According to a new report from ADL and Tel Aviv University, antisemitism rose in many Western nations around the world in 2022, while once again reaching historic levels in the United States. ADL rated ten popular social media and gaming platforms on how they respond to Holocaust denial content on their platforms, with many companies receiving “poor” grades.

					Torch-carrying white nationalists indicted in 2017 Charlottesville rally

					“Nearly six years after a large gathering of white nationalists in Charlottesville erupted in violent clashes with counter protesters, a grand jury in Virginia has indicted multiple people on felony charges for carrying flaming torches with the intent to intimidate. The Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release that the indictments relate to an event on Aug. 11, 2017. That’s when a group of white nationalists carrying torches marched through the campus of the University of Virginia, some chanting, “Jews will not replace us.” PBS NEWS HOUR:

					Antisemitic incidents on rise across US, report finds

“Antisemitism rose in the U.S. in 2022 and shows little sign of abating worldwide as political radicals have gained mainstream popularity, researchers said in a report released Monday. The report was released by Tel Aviv University’s Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry and the U.S.-based Anti-Defamation League as Israel began observing its annual day of remembrance for the 6 million Jews killed in the Holocaust. Last year’s report found that 2021 set a new high for antisemitic incidents, with the coronavirus pandemic fueling a worldwide rise in antisemitism. This year the researchers said that

					ADL Holocaust denial report rates all social media platforms poorly
“The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) published their annual Online Holocaust Denial Report Card on Monday, rating the top ten most popular social media and gaming platforms on the degree to which they aid the spread of Holocaust denial content. The report's introduction points out that even though the Holocaust is one of the most well-documented atrocities in history, antisemites continue to try to cast doubt and downplay the facts. The ADL's Center for Technology and Society (CTS) reviewed the policies of ten major media platforms and looked for examples of Holocaust denial content on their sites.” THE JERUSALEM POST:

						Jonathan Greenblatt: Those who hate aim to divide and isolate us. We have witnessed the increased normalization of racist, bigoted, extremist, and antisemitic rhetoric influenced by white supremacist ideology in recent years.

						@Twitter’s policies must aim to keep the platform safe for its users. This decision will have harmful consequences beyond the platform, as we’ve seen online anti-LGBTQ+ hate fuel offline violence.

						The #WarsawGhettoUprising began #OTD 80 years ago, on the eve of Passover. The Nazis planned to liquidate the ghetto, but were met with fierce resistance by the remaining Jews. Lasting nearly a month, this was the largest & longest-lasting act of resistance during the Holocaust.
