Happy 4/20, Colorado!
Can you believe it’s been more than 10 years since our state legalized marijuana? Legalization might not seem like a big deal now, but at the time we were the first state to do it. In fact, it was so new we had to create our own process to regulate this budding market – and boy did it pay off.
Since 2012, Colorado’s legal cannabis industry has created new opportunities for small businesses, good-paying jobs, and helped remedy the racial injustices caused by marijuana criminalization. In fact, other states looking to legalize marijuana often use our playbook as the best roadmap for success. But hey, imitation is the ultimate form of flattery.
That’s why we’ve been working to pass the PREPARE Act, our bill to establish a transparent process to legalize marijuana at the federal level — one that mirrors Colorado’s framework. We introduced the bill last year, and are getting ready to reintroduce it this Congress.
Folks, federal legalization of marijuana is overwhelmingly popular, and we owe it to the American people to make that process as seamless as possible. If you’re with us, add your name to our petition calling on Congress to pass the PREPARE Act once it’s reintroduced. Let’s get this done!
Thank you — your support means so much.
