In Case You Missed it... Webinar Recordings Available on YouTube
CHBA BC
CHBA BC has uploaded two of our recent webinars to our YouTube channel for anyone who wants to rewatch the session, share it, or if you missed it.
On Tuesday, April 11, CHBA BC hosted a presentation on the ReHousing research project, which explores solutions to Missing Middle Housing. The presentation looks at strategies to convert single-family homes into multi-unit housing and supports zoning reform to allow multiplexes.
In March, CHBA BC and BOABC brought together speakers from Ontario, Alberta, and locally in British Columbia to share how their organizations are using a modernized, digital system for permitting and inspection processes.
Both webinars can now be found on CHBA BC’s YouTube channel. Keep an eye on our channel as we’ll be continually updating it with content.

Province Takes Legislative Action to Streamline Housing Approvals in Vancouver
BC Government
This week the Province introduced legislative amendments through the Municipalities Enabling and Validating Act tied directly to a supportive and affordable housing project in Vancouver which has been delayed by the court action of a community group.
The Province is making the changes to the Act at the request of the City of Vancouver to allow the Arbutus Project on the west side of the city to move forward as soon as possible. With this legislative intervention, construction could begin in early 2024.
In July 2022, Vancouver city council approved, in principle, a rezoning bylaw to allow an urgently needed 129-unit mixed supportive housing and affordable housing development, known as the Arbutus Project, at 2086 and 2098 W. 7th Ave. and 2091 W. 8th Ave. This approval followed a public hearing process that invited local residents and other interested participants to comment on the proposed development. The adoption of the rezoning bylaw has been delayed due to legal action by opponents of the project.
