John, 24 years ago, two gunmen entered Columbine High School on a shooting rampage, killing 12 students and one teacher. 24 others were left injured, several students were permanently paralyzed, and this community — and the entire country —  was forever traumatized.

24 years ago, families knew that something needed to change. But that change never came.

In the decades since Columbine, there have been 377 school shootings. Sandy Hook. Parkland. Uvalde. Nashville. The list goes on. With each shooting, more families are left grieving and desperate for change.

But Congress has refused every time to take the action necessary to finally end this senseless violence. Enough is enough. As we remember the Columbine shooting, we're asking gun violence advocates like you to raise your voices – and force Washington to hear you. Please will you respond before midnight tonight?

Should Congress take action on school shootings?

As a gun violence survivor, I know firsthand the horror and trauma inflicted by shootings. And as a mother, I am amongst the millions of parents who worry that one day, their child won't come home from school — that they'll become another statistic in the ever rising numbers of gun violence victims.

Watching my young children talk about lockdown drills at their school as if this violence is somehow normal, I know that our country is completely failing our children.

We cannot allow this to continue any longer, John. But we'll only overcome the gun lobby's influence on Congress if people like you refuse to give up this fight. So please, before this poll closes at midnight tonight, will you respond to stand with victims of gun violence? We still need another 532 responses from your area, so I'm really counting on you:

Should Congress take action on school shootings?
