History Never Dies: Reuniting Military Mementos with One Veteran?s Survivors

Metal box

Serving Minnesota Veterans and their families. That?s the mission of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA). We deliver on that promise in many ways.

Sometimes, it means ensuring that Veterans and their dependents receive the healthcare, educational and employment benefits they have earned. Sometimes, it means we find positive housing outcomes for Veterans experiencing homelessness. Clifford Peter Olsen, U.S. Air Force, one of nine crewmen lost on a B-14 in 1945 and declared missing in action (MIA).

One hundred years later, Minnesota Veterans can still count on SSAP in times of need. Tens of thousands of former service members and their families have found help over the decades. The program was established in response to the needs of Veterans returning home from World War I. Early on, SSAP provided basic assistance with medical treatment and for the general maintenance of disabled Veterans.
