Dear John,

This week, we celebrated President Biden’s historic executive order to open care up to more families. Unfortunately, yesterday, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy just introduced a bill that would do the exact opposite: take care away from millions of people through unjust work requirements on Medicaid care recipients.

Now’s an important moment to show up for care.

Sign our petition to protect Medicaid from harmful work requirements and tell Congress: We can't afford to lose our care! [[link removed]]

McCarthy’s new "Limit, Save, Grow" proposal would directly attack federal care programs by taking Medicaid away from people who don’t meet bureaucratic work requirements. We’ve seen this playbook before – work requirements don’t work.

In fact, work requirements hurt people in the U.S. by taking care away from people who are in poor health, disabled people, and older adults ages 50 to 65, for whom there are few job opportunities.

Instead of cutting Medicaid and taking health care away from people, Congress should do more to make the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share. We should tax billionaires, not make cuts to care.

Together, we can fight back against the threats imposed by this bill. The more of us who rise up in support of Medicaid right now, the more we can prevent Congress from passing this harmful bill. Sign our petition to save Medicaid. [[link removed]]

None of the progress we made this week would have been possible without amazing care advocates like you. And with your help, we’ll continue to make progress in the fight for better care for all of us.

With care,
