Dear Friend,

This Saturday, April 22, is Earth Day. But today, we are running out of time to address our human-made climate crisis.

Last month, the U.N. group of world-leading climate scientists released its most recent report on climate change. With the world’s current rate of carbon emissions, global average temperatures will rise by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit) in the next few years. That tipping point would trigger irreversible planetary impacts.

We must shift course now. The United States and other industrialized nations must immediately slash greenhouse gas emissions—and transition our economy away from fossil fuels completely.

Tell Congress: Act now to address climate change! [link removed]

The climate crisis has disproportionately harmed Indigenous communities and other poor and marginalized communities worldwide. These communities have made the fewest contributions to greenhouse gases, yet they have faced the most devastating consequences to their health, livelihoods, and ecosystems.

Today the U.S. can ensure climate justice for all. Yet right now, Congress is considering legislation that could result in a massive give-away to fossil fuel industries and undermine progress in addressing climate change. And although the Biden administration signed historic climate legislation last year, its recent actions to authorize the Willow oil and gas drilling project in the Western Arctic is out of line with what science, justice, and equity demand.

That’s why elected officials must hear from us today. Tell Congress to act now to move us closer to climate justice! [link removed]
