Dear John,

In just a few weeks, the Supreme Court will hear a case that could decide the
future of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

This methane gas pipeline will pollute our land and waterways and cut through
communities across Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. It will even cut
across the Appalachian Trail -- scarring its pristine landscape and proving even
our most protected wild places aren’t safe from fossil fuel infrastructure.

This Supreme Court case may be a tipping point in the fight for a fossil fuel
free future. But we can’t rely on the court to protect us from this pipeline.
Congress must take immediate action that reins in all current and future fossil
fuel projects like the ACP. But your legislators will only act if they feel
pressure from constituents like you.

Fight for a fossil fuel free future: Tell Congress to oppose the ACP and future
fossil fuel projects today!

The ACP would carry enough fracked gas to generate over 67 million metric tons
of climate pollution per year. That’s the equivalent of 20 average U.S. coal
plants. It would require 38 miles of mountaintop removal. And it would damage
farm and forest land.

What’s more, the ACP would disproportionately harm poor, African-American and
Indigenous communities all along the route. Part of the project would involve
opening one of the largest fracked gas compressor stations ever built in Union
Hill -- an African-American community of great historical and cultural
significance in Virginia. And thirty thousand Native peoples live in census
tracts considered part of the project area in North Carolina alone.

We know the Supreme Court is influenced by cultural change and public outrage.
After people across the country boldly stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, the court had
no choice but to make same-sex marriage the law of the land.

Now, the American people -- led by those who are directly impacted by fossil
fuel projects -- are sounding the alarm about this dirty industry. This is the
political atmosphere we need to push the court to act.

Take action now: Tell Congress to reject the ACP and all future fossil fuel
projects!

This isn’t just about stopping one pipeline, it’s about stopping all future
pipelines -- including one that could someday run through your community. If we
don’t collectively fight fossil fuel infrastructure now, we could all suffer
later.

And we know grassroots activism works. In Oregon last week, grassroots activists
won a huge victory against the fossil fuel industry when the Jordan Cove Energy
Project announced that it has withdrawn its application for a key permit for its
massive export terminal.

Momentum is building against the fossil fuel industry. The Supreme Court and
Congress can’t just look the other way as projects like the ACP continue to harm
communities and permanently scar our most cherished wild places. Together we can
push our legislators to protect us from future pipeline devastation and ramp up
public outrage to push the Supreme Court further in the direction of justice and
environmental protection.
