Friend -
šŸ‘øšŸ¼Well, beg my Dolly Parton but What The Great Smoky Mountains is going on in Tennessee ? Is the Florida swamp seeping upwards? As sea levels rise, as we lose land and fresh water, will the Southland Legislatures lose their grasp on all common sense? Here we are facing dilemmas and tragedies at catastrophic levels and instead of facing them Tennessee Republicans have concluded that Drag is the enemy: not guns, not pandemics, not climate change, not racism. Drag. As in Queens. As in WHAT THE ?
ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹In the scheme of the universe, there have been times when sacrificing a few for the greater good has made a horrible sense. World War II and the Civil War come to mind, and even then I still imagine all that could have been done to stop it all from happening in the first place. So, hereā€™s a hill Iā€™m willing to die on: offering the bodies of our children to appease the angry NRA gods and their GOP warlords so that their beloved AR-15s can continue causing ā€œtorrential bleedingā€ as they rip our children from life ā€¦ is not one of those times. Not now, not ever.
šŸ˜³The way Congressman Burchett has spoken about the most recent (please donā€™t let there be another by the time youā€™re reading this) school shooting at The Covenant School in Tennessee (March 27), youā€™d think it was written in stone that these children and their teachers were meant to die. On the day of The Covenant School mass shooting, reporters caught up with Buddy Boy Burchett outside the Capitol. He put on his good golly gosh voice and said:
ā€œItā€™s a horrible, horrible situation ā€¦ and weā€™re not gonna fix it. Criminals are gonna be criminals. And my daddy fought in the Second World War, fought in the Pacific, fought the Japanese, and he told me, he said, ā€˜Buddy,ā€™ he said, ā€˜if somebody wants to take you out and doesnā€™t mind losing their life, thereā€™s not a whole heck of a lot you can do about it.'"
šŸ¤”Bro what? Criminals are gonna be criminals? Something something Daddy and holy heck WE ARENā€™T GOING TO FIX IT? Ohhhhkay. Yā€™all, I have spent as much of my life hitting my head against a brick wall as any of us, but Congressman Burchett and his NRA Qlan ā€” theyā€™re like bashing your head against a vast chasm of emptiness. The whiplash is deadly. When prodded further, Tiny Tim doubled down on the role Congress could play in ending senseless gun violence: ā€œI donā€™t see any real role that we could do other than mess things up.ā€
šŸ¤” šŸ¤” Double double what what? I mean, folx. I am speechless. In part, yes, we know the Republicans in Tennessee would very likely mess things up, but also, whatā€™s messier than dead 8 and 9 year olds? Ugh. Itā€™s enough to make one sob uncontrollably. The good news is that Mr. Burchett is making sure kids are safe when it really matters ā€¦ when it comes to Drag Queens. <Cue scary music now.>
šŸšœ You bet your barn door Tennessee is never going to do anything legitimate to help children , so theyā€™ll make up fake harm, yeah, yeah, thatā€™s the ticket! Theyā€™ll take a group of people theyā€™ve always hated and put a target on them instead of their slaughtering guns. The Volunteer State will volunteer their children as tribute in order to Save AR-15s! And to appease their Dark Lord NRA they will Ban Drag Shows! What an insane distraction. Dressing in drag, which has cost exactly ZERO childrenā€™s lives, or any lives for that matter, is how Daddy Said We Canā€™t Stop Anything Burchett supports the Tennessee legislature, and shows heā€™s doing a darn good jobby job as a congressman.
šŸŽ„In an interview with Newsmax earlier in March (3.7), Burchett was imperative about what needed to be done to protect the lives of Tennesseeā€™s children from the plague of daily breaking news: Deadly Drag Queens .
ā€œA grown man dressed up like a woman should not be rubbing his crotch in front of a little child. Good on Governor Bill Lee and our Tennessee legislature. The law goes into effect on July 1st. And dadgummit, we donā€™t put up with that crap in Tennessee, and we shouldnā€™t.ā€
Congressman, your gun magazine is full, but your frontal lobe (where logic should live) appears to be empty. We all know you will put up with anything terrible and attack only the good.
Seriously. What. The. EverLovingHeck.
