“WE WILL CONTINUE IN THE STRUGGLE UNTIL WE ACHIEVE JUSTICE"

A message from Rosa Elvira and Angelica Choc.
On January 29, 2020, Mayan Q’eqchi’ Plaintiffs in the landmark Hudbay Minerals lawsuits (Angelica Choc and seven of the gang-rape victims from the community of Lote 8) met in El Estor, Guatemala, to discuss the January 21, 2020 ruling of the Ontario Superior Court in favor of the Plaintiffs on all points.

The ruling confirmed that the Plaintiffs are suing Hudbay not only for the rapes committed by mining company security guards, but also for the rapes committed at the same time by Guatemalan police and soldiers.

Rosa Elvira – speaking on behalf of the 11 Plaintiffs from Lote 8 – and Angelica Choc sent these statements.
