Big cities are electing progressive mayors, John.
From Boston’s Michelle Wu to Los Angeles’ Karen Bass to Chicago’s newly-elected Brandon Johnson — the ranks of big city progressive mayors are growing as more and more voters rethink what a city can do for its people.
And next in line could be Philadelphia, where former elementary school teacher, education-organizer, and city councilmember Helen Gym is on the ballot for mayor.
With her momentum building by the day, we know that Helen has a real shot at winning, but we also know that Republicans and corporate Democrats will make every effort to crush the progressive insurgency we’re seeing in city after city.
Already, Republicans are coalescing behind Helen’s top opponent — multimillionaire ShopRite magnate Jeff Brown — and reportedly even switching parties just to vote for him, and against Helen, in the upcoming Democratic primary.1
We can’t let them win. Can you split a contribution between Helen Gym’s campaign and the Working Families Party to help us reach more voters in Philadelphia, and strengthen our movement for affordable housing, fully-funded public schools, vibrant neighborhoods, and more?

It’s no surprise that dark money is also already showing up in this race too, with the super PAC For a Better Philadelphia raising over $3.08 million from undisclosed donors for Brown’s campaign.
But while Helen’s opponents have deep-pocketed donors and outside groups spending a fortune trying to buy this election and derail the momentum arriving in Philadelphia after the victories in some of the biggest city halls in the country — Helen has an unstoppable grassroots force on her side that believes in her vision for a government that has working people’s backs.
Her record of leadership, movement-building, and service to her community is resonating more and more with voters across Philadelphia every day, and we know that victory is within reach — but only if we continue getting her message in front of undecided voters.
With just less than a month to go, will you split a contribution between Helen Gym’s campaign and the Working Families Party to help turn out voters in the last weeks before Election Day? Your support will help us build the large-scale grassroots movement needed to overcome the dark money already being funneled into this race, and cover the costs of canvassing, texting, phonebanking, and all of the organizing that’s needed to reach voters across Philadelphia and win this election.
