U.S. Announces New Round of Military Aid for Ukraine

The Biden administration announced a $325 million security assistance package for Ukraine on Wednesday, marking the 36th drawdown of equipment for Ukraine from the Defense Department since August 2021. The United States has granted Ukraine more than $35 billion in military assistance since Russia’s invasion in February of last year, as The Washington Post reports

It still amazes me when I “discover” a Tom Petty gem that I haven’t heard before. Last weekend I was sitting on the Mississippi River levy in Uptown New Orleans, known locally as “The Fly.” It’s a special place where you can hang out and watch the barges glide by. It’s also a park with a bunch of soccer and baseball fields.

I was with my best friend who lives in New Orleans and we were about to go watch his son play in a high school baseball game adjacent to the Mississippi. That game turned out to be a classic. It was the longest baseball game in Louisiana high school history—22 innings! If you know anything about baseball in Louisiana, that’s quite a feat. Anyway, the Petty tune I heard by happenstance in my friend’s car just before the game was “About To Give Out,” off the Heartbreakers' 1999 record “Echo.” It was a memorable track for a memorable day
