President Biden has threatened to veto the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The bill amends Title IX to strengthen protections for female athletes and clarifies that granting biological males awards, roster spots, or scholarships designated for female athletes is discriminatory and illegal. Independent Women's Forum Spokeswoman Riley Gaines released a statement in response to the White House's threat: 
“Equal opportunity, privacy, and safety for women in sports shouldn’t be controversial. The women who once advocated for Title IX should be outraged as this goes against everything they fought for.”
