Gun violence is a devastating and uniquely American phenomenon. Over 5,000 Americans have tragically lost their lives due to an act of gun violence just this year alone. We can’t sit by when innocent lives are lost and families are torn apart. We need to start treating gun violence as the deadly public health crisis it is.

Last year, I was proud to help pass the first significant gun safety legislation in three decades. This was a step in the right direction to keeping our communities safe from gun violence, but there is so much more that can and needs to be done.

Democrats and Republicans need to stand together and come up with a common sense approach to gun legislation to keep our communities safe. That's why I'm working to pass stronger common sense gun safety legislation like expanded background checks, closing loopholes, and a ban on ghost guns.

These policies would help save lives and ensure our children grow up in a safer world – but now, I want to hear from you.
