We know that when people come together big things happen. We’ve seen nurses, doctors, postal workers, teachers and many more professions strike recently, and win.  

Now we need to take action to stop the climate and debt crisis.  

Together with Extinction Rebellion and Debt for Climate, Debt Justice will be joining the People’s Picket – part of ‘The Big One’, Friday 21st April to Monday 24th April.

Debt is fuelling the climate crisis, with some countries forced to exploit fossil fuels to generate the funds needed to repay lenders, and others unable to respond to climate disasters because of the huge amount of debt they hold.  

In Pakistan, devastating floods, caused by the climate crisis, have displaced 33 million people. But this year alone, $20 billion in debt payments will be claimed from the people of Pakistan by foreign lenders.  

That’s why we’re coming together with thousands of others across the UK to campaign for change.  

The UK government has a key role to play, 90% of the lending contracts for low income countries are enforceable through UK courts.  That’s why we’ll be outside the Treasury on Friday 21st April, demanding they play their part and cancel debt!
