Today, Common Dreams is launching our annual Spring Campaign, but this
is no ordinary fundraising drive.

As a member of the Common Dreams community, you know that in order to
defend democracy, progress, and the common good, we need independent
media that stands against fascism, authoritarianism, and corporate
greed.

But we’re going to be honest with you: Common Dreams is in a dangerous
position—and we’ve never been closer to shutting down than we are
today. Since Donald Trump left office, charitable giving is down across
the progressive movement. While traffic to our website remains strong,
ever-changing social media algorithms are making it harder for new
readers to find our coverage.

Independent journalism seeks to be a light in the darkness, but our
survival is not a given. Fascist forces aligned against the common good
understand very well that our unity and the vision we share for a better
world are direct threats to their quest for profits and political
dominance.

At this moment in history—when nonprofit news and progressive change
is more vital than ever—we’re asking our readers to contribute
whatever you can to help make our Spring Campaign not just a success,
but a show of force.

good.—is built on the principle that a people-funded media model free
from corporate influence is the only way to provide readers with news
