Breaking: Fox "News" has agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787.5
million in a blockbuster lawsuit settlement over Fox News' 2020 election
lies.^1
This is the largest settlement in media history, signaling the beginning
of a reckoning for Fox's endless stream of right-wing propaganda
masquerading as news.^2 But still, the settlement amounts to only about a
quarter of Fox News' profits from last year alone.^3 If we're going to
break its stranglehold on our politics, we need to fundamentally challenge
Fox News' whole business model.

advertisers stop funding Fox's lies? The truth is that Fox News will
continue spewing lies and hatred, further destroying our democracy, until
they start losing profits.
Every dollar spent on advertising to Fox News viewers funds the dangerous
rhetoric and conspiracies that they blast on air. Enough is enough. It’s
time for AT&T, General Motors, and Subway to stop funding Fox News'
dangerous lies.

The most effective way we can hold Fox News accountable for their lies is
to demand that these companies stop funding the channel through any new
advertising on it. With Fox's reputation on the line, this is a prime
opportunity to demand that corporate advertisers change course and stop
doing business with Fox.
In just a couple of weeks, these corporate advertisers will likely be
striking new deals with Fox News for the next year. AT&T, General Motors,
and Subway have the choice to stop future advertising deals with Fox News
or to continue funding the hate and lies that undermine our democracy.

"News." They are enabling Fox's lies and damaging our nation through their
support of this right-wing propaganda network!
The Dominion settlement means we won't get to see Fox bigwigs like Rupert
Murdoch and Tucker Carlson take the stand under oath in the trial. By
settling in the moments before starting its trial, Fox avoided an even
more painful reckoning that would have seen its most prolific liars
testify under oath, and possibly result in a verdict worth twice as much.
What happens in courtrooms and boardrooms may not be up to us. But we can
do our part to make sure that $787.5 million is the beginning and not the
end of the cost that Fox pays for damaging our democracy.
MoveOn members have a long history of confronting Fox's lies and
pernicious partisan impact—from forcing advertisers to drop Bill O'Reilly
to getting the Democratic Party to stop hosting presidential primary
debates on this right-wing network. We'll continue this work—including
calling out Tucker Carlson's white-supremacism-fueled appeal—and part of
it is challenging the very funding model that allows Fox to prop up this
disinformation.
