Last week, House Republicans passed a bill that would undermine President Biden’s and House Democrats’ climate change agenda. This is the latest in a series of back bills introduced by McCarthy and his cohort.

Earlier this year, House Republicans also introduced the Parents’ Bill of Rights, which is nothing more than a culture war bill aimed at the most extreme and anti-free-speech fringes of their base. The bill would put trans youth at risk, requiring parental consent before changing a student’s pronouns. Not only that, but it would opened the door for banning books and discussions about LGBTQ+ topics in general. 

As an educator, Jahana was aghast at this bill. She knows that our queer and trans youth need more support, not less. 

But this is no surprise in a party more focused on riling up their base than tackling the kitchen-table issues that face our families, from the affordability crisis to healthcare. 

We need to get McCarthy and his extremist party OUT of the House. Jahana has been named one of Democrats’ “Frontline” races, meaning one of the most important to taking back the House in 2024.
