John,
Green grocery giant Whole Foods stocks its shelves with bottled water brands owned by BlueTriton, which makes its money by pumping water out of communities suffering from drought and water scarcity.
The multinational supermarket chain is known for its ethical grocery sourcing and business practices. Yet, there is nothing ethical about its partnership with BlueTriton. That is why Whole Foods needs to hear from you.
The grocery giant depends on its image as a green, sustainable and wholesome brand, so a scandal involving unethical water sourcing would be incredibly damaging. That is why together we need to apply public pressure on Whole Foods to address the problematic partnership with BlueTriton, and to clean up its supply chain.
Sign here to ask Whole Foods to remove BlueTriton bottled water from its shelves.
Whole Foods prides itself in its supply chain transparency and honest ingredient list, making clear in its value statements that it believes that customers should know where products come from. But, the company is still working with a supplier that sources its water from drought-stricken areas, national parks, and communities who are worried about water scarcity.
In fact, six communities across North America are actively fighting to stop BlueTriton from taking away their local water supply. In California, where people have been suffering through an historic drought, extreme weather, and water usage restrictions, BlueTriton has been draining away 24 times more water than it’s legally allowed to.
If Whole Foods truly wants to source responsibility and be an environmental steward, it cannot continue to work with suppliers like BlueTriton that do harm to communities and delicate ecosystems.
Tell Whole Foods to end its unethical partnership with BlueTriton
Together, the Ekō community can move Whole Foods to stop selling BlueTriton bottled water, and any other product that contributes to water scarcity. The grocery giant continuously seeks to improve its products and supply chain. Just last year, the grocery giant announced that it will not sell lobster from Maine over sustainability concerns. Today, Ekō members like you can make sure that Whole Foods puts an end to disastrous water sourcing.
