John, word on the street is…Mitch McConnell is retiring! In honor of his speculated retirement, we've found three of his most racist and problematic moments from the last year that proves his interests are…well, only his and the right-wing extremists'.
Shall we begin?
In January 2022, Mitch McConnell referred to African Americans as separate from Americans, stating that
"African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans." News flash, Mitch…we're ALL Americans. 🙄
In 2016, McConnell proudly fought to block Obama's SCOTUS nominee, stating:
"All we are doing is following the long-standing tradition of not fulfilling a nomination in the middle of a presidential year." In April 2022, Mitch McConnell noted that he wouldn't commit to hearings for a potential Biden Supreme Court nominee ahead of the 2024 election. But when Trump was President, he had no issues spearheading the rush to confirm his racist pal Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court – the woman who ruled that being called racial slurs in the workplace does not make it a hostile work environment…weird.
In May 2022, Mitch McConnell was asked repeatedly about his views of
"replacement theory," a conspiracy theory that holds that Democrats are trying to replace white Americans with undocumented immigrants and Black, brown, and other people of color in order to win elections. He decided to ignore and avoid denouncing it completely.
So John, it's safe to say, we're definitely looking forward to seeing Mitch out. And we're raising money to give him the best gift of all – a replacement that does not stand for racist, anti-democratic values like him.
Will you chip in and help us recruit and raise for a candidate that is the complete opposite of Mitch McConnell?
We can't wait to see Mitch out.
