While fentanyl continues to have a devastating impact on our community, medical and law enforcement professionals are now warning of an even more dangerous drug called Xylazine, otherwise known as "tranq." When combined with opioids, tranq makes them even more deadly and is known to cause horrific wounds on users. Between 2020 and 2021, the DEA reported a more than 1,000% increase in tranq related overdose deaths.
