Last week, in the dead of night, Ron DeSantis signed a bill making abortions in Florida illegal at six weeks — a time at which many women don’t even know they are pregnant yet.

As if it couldn’t get any worse, DeSantis’ legislation requires victims of rape and incest to show documents proving their trauma.

It’s sick.

The only people who like it are a narrow slice of far-right Republican presidential primary voters.

[Recent polling finds the six-week abortion ban is not popular among Florida residents of either political party. A University of North Florida poll in March found 75% of 1,452 respondents said they either somewhat or strongly opposed the six-week ban. That included 61% of Republicans.]

But as a result of DeSantis' ambition, women will suffer. And they will need our help.

My team has identified a few organizations in Florida that will help women get the care they need. They exist in rural and urban areas, and they will help women of all backgrounds. And I am asking:

Can you split a contribution between six Florida abortion access funds to help women get the care they need? The donation will help with procedure funding, logistical coordination and emotional support before, during and after appointments.

Ron DeSantis talks a lot about “freedom,” but he is one of the most anti-freedom governors in the most anti-freedom political parties. He bans books, restricts speech, makes it harder to vote, and denies women the freedom to get the care they need.

DeSantis is a total fraud.
