Democrats recognize that the gun violence epidemic in our country demands immediate action. After another school shooting shook our country -- this time in Nashville -- Jim reintroduced his bill to close the Charleston loophole, a loophole in our laws that allows for a gun sale to go through even if a background check hasn’t been completed. 

Jim joined other Democrats in writing a letter expressing support for President Biden’s student debt relief plan. Biden’s plan would better the lives of so many borrowers -- especially borrowers of color -- by helping them break free from the financial distress student debt can create.

From the Headlines

It’s been two years since the American Rescue Plan was enacted and Jim wrote an op-ed reflecting on its success, from getting vaccines in people’s arms to reopening schools and getting people back to work.

“When President Joe Biden took office, the economy was in crisis... Two years later, it’s clear that his economic plan is working. The Biden Administration has created over 12.4 million jobs during his presidency. Our nation’s unemployment rate is at the lowest since 1969 and the deficit has fallen by $1.7 trillion. That success is due in part to the transformational American Rescue Plan.”

On the Ballot 2022

The first end-of-month fundraising deadline of the new quarter is less than two weeks away. If we’re going to win back the House Majority next year, we need to close out April in a strong place financially. Any amount you can contribute before midnight on April 30th would help a lot.
